HOTELIER Francis Brennan has checked into Dunnes Stores as their latest designer.

The in-demand RTE presenter (61) has said that he's "delighted" to be bringing out his first collection with Dunnes Stores.

The Herald can reveal how the popular star of At Your Service is joining forces with the high-street chain to bring out an extensive range of homeware products.

Due to hit the shelves in late summer, that means that everyone can have a little bit of the inimitable hotelier's quirky style in their own home.

"I'm delighted to be working with Dunnes Stores on the collection. I've always had a passion for everything to do with interiors, given all my years in the Kenmare Park Hotel.

"The collection will bring a touch of five-star luxury into everyone's living rooms. It will have a very affordable price point," he told the Herald.

The busy presenter has flown off to America this week as he embarks on a huge promotional tour for the Kerry hotel that he co-owns with his brother John.

A source close to the star said that a collaboration with the Irish brand had been in the pipeline for a while, thanks to his connections with the Heffernan and Dunne family.

"A lot of the family would have stayed in the Park Hotel over the years and they would have had a bit of chit chat with Francis about doing something together," she said.

"They've done a fantastic job moving in a new direction with the stores, expanding their lifestyle range and he would have come to mind when they were looking for fresh design talent.

"He just loves all that and is thrilled to be involved."

His debut collection is going to be a mixture of tableware, towels, accessories, bed linens and glassware as well as a colourful tie range, given his own dapper style.

Called the Francis Brennan Collection, it's due to launch in early August.

He's also flying high with his RTE TV show which has just been green-lighted for another series in 2016.

Regularly pulling in audiences of 600,000, this will be his tenth series for the national broadcaster - he also made a travel show, Francis Brennan's Grand Tour.

The Stepaside native started working at the Kenmare hotel in 1980, but it went into liquidation in 1984. Francis leased it for two years before buying it from a Swiss consortium.
