Forecast warms up for Easter and beyond

BRIGHT skies are here to stay in the short term as this Easter looks set to be a sunny one.

Met Eireann have forecast that the country will be blessed with good spells this bank holiday weekend and it expects the warm weather will be staying around for most of next week, before showers return on Friday.

"Our weather will be mostly dry and settled for the rest of the Easter weekend and for the coming week," Met Eireann said.

Temperatures will reach as high as 17C, particularly in Leinster. "The settled weather will continue through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

"It will be dry apart from perhaps a little drizzle at times on northern coasts. It will feel pleasant with sunny spells.

The favourable forecast is sure to be welcomed by event organisers around the country with Easter celebrations planned.

Dublin city centre looks set to take a trip down memory lane this Easter as the Road to the Rising is remembered.

The normal hustle and bustle of traffic and shoppers on O'Connell Street will be replaced by a traditional 1915 atmosphere as the street is pedestrianised to make way for Easter Rising celebrations on Monday.

The city centre will be sent back in time with a vintage carousel, an Edwardian wedding and funeral, and silent movies at a cinemobile.
