Fingal: Call for dog parks in Fingal area

canine life

Two dog parks are currently being trialled within the Fingal County Council area.

One is in St Catherine's Park in Lucan and the other is in Millennium Park in Coolmine.

However, Labour councillor for Swords Duncan Smith says his constituents are constantly asking him about dog parks being set up in the north county Dublin area.

He has now called on the council to establish one in Balheary Park and another in River Valley Park.

"A lot of people have asked me about general issues related to dogs, but mostly about a safe place where dogs can run off-leash and get some exercise," said Mr Smith.

"It's a big issue in Swords and I am calling for the dog parks to be extended to Balheary and River Valley parks.

"There are big parks here but you can't let your dog off the leash," he said, because of the close proximity to roads.
