Film legend Omar joins Jim's movie

acting legend Omar Sharif joined Jim Sheridan on the set of his movie Secret Scripture during the final day of filming.

The Dublin director's film, based on the Sebastian Barry novel, was being shot at his own multi-million euro home in Dalkey yesterday afternoon.

The movie adaptation of the 2008 novel, produced by Noel Pearson, features an all-star cast including Eric Bana, Rooney Mara and Vanessa Redgrave.

Yesterday, Jim invited the crew and actors to use his home as a film set house where Doctor Zhivago star Omar Sharif made a special guest appearance as an older Father Gaunt.

Sharif (82) played opposite Eric Bana, who plays Dr William Grene, in a number of scenes yesterday afternoon.

The Egyptian actor wrapped up filming at 3pm and got a standing ovation from the crew when he left.

Last weekend Hulk star Bana (46) took time out from work to brush up on his barista skills at a coffee house in Dublin city centre.

Bana paid a visit to Coffee Angel on South Anne Street, where he was snapped behind the counter trying his hand at pouring a cup of coffee for lucky customers.
