fff IRISH patient-led charity Fighting Blindness has teamed up with Dublin South Arch Club and Dundrum restaurant, Roly Saul, to host fundraising event Dining in the Dark next month.

The unusual dining experience on Thursday, August 28, will raise funds for those cycling from Paris to Nice, the equivalent of 700km over six days, from September 20- 25. Tickets are €70 per person, contact info@rolydundrum.ie to organise.

fff THE annual Fleadh Cheoil will be broadcast live this year on TG4. Presenters Sile Ni Bhraonain and Lynette Fay will take centre stage on Fleadh TV from August 15-17 as they celebrate a weekend of "craic agus ceoil". They'll be joined by Sligo musician Cathy Jordan of Dervish fame as part of their coverage. Music club 5th On Teeling will form the venue for the broadcast, with 400,000 people expected to attend the festival.

fff ASLAN have announced a new date at the Olympia Theatre for Saturday September 20, 2014. The stalwarts of the Irish music scene are following on from their two sold-out shows in the Olympia last May with another date for their loyal fans this autumn. Lead singer Christy Dignam seems to be on the mend since his near-fatal brush with a rare type of blood cancer - and says he's happy to take it one gig at a time. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning from the usual outlets.

fff THE very first annual Dublin City Block party takes over Dublin 8 this Sunday, August 3, from 1pm. This day-long party on the Tivoli Grounds on Francis Street will fuse great music, street food, craft ales, cocktails and games. Headline acts include Daphni, Kerri Chandler & DJ Harvey.
