Fans raise €1,800 after pancake caravan flattened
The owners of a thriving mobile pancake cafe had a lucky escape after their caravan unhitched and was sent flying into a field in Co Donegal.
The Happy Camper has been a huge hit with tourists and locals alike since it was set up in the shadow of Mount Errigal more than a year ago by sisters Maria McCormack and Jane Coen, from Churchill.
The pair were lucky to escape uninjured when the caravan broke loose from their vehicle and was sent tumbling into the gorse, smashing into pieces on Saturday evening.
Maria, a well-known singer and songwriter, said the people of Donegal had been amazing in their response in helping to get the business back on the road. Many people have offered their services free of charge in an effort to get the caravan rebuilt.
A friend of the sisters set up an online Go Get Funding campaign called Rebuild Our Happy Camper which has already raised €1,800 of a €3,000 target to buy a new van.
Hundreds of other people have left messages of support from as far away as Australia and the US.
"We're blown away by the love and support we have received," said Jane.
