Cash-strapped house hunters hoping to find a Dublin 4 pad on the cheap could finally be in luck with rent being advertised at €300-a-month.

Camelot Property Management – a company that offers property guardian contracts – has launched a recruitment drive to find new tenants.

They are advertising accommodation in a five-bed D4 property for €300 per month, including all bills.

The company, which installs “live-in guardians” in vacant properties, says the business continues to grow in Ireland with a 50pc increase in the number of people signing up in the past two years.

Last year the firm offered a palatial seven-bedroom home on Ailesbury Road for just €250 per month.

The firm have previously offered accommodation in vacant office space and former Garda stations.

“When guardians take occupancy in properties we see a dramatic decrease in the levels of dilapidation, vandalism and crime in the surrounding areas,”  manager Paul Cosnett said.

“Couple that with the fact we are offering a cheaper renting alternative in a property that would otherwise be vacant, the Camelot offering is a win-win situation for everyone.”

Potential tenants must be in full-time employment and supply a copy of a passport, utility bill, bank statements, two character references and an employment reference before they are considered.

They must have no children or pets and must be willing to leave the property at four week’s notice.
