Expert eyes on rugby prize
THE Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) is to spend up to €1.1m on consultants to advise them on their 2023 Rugby World Cup bid.
The body said it has "identified the need for a advisor to assist them in the development of a bid strategy".
The group formally announced its decision to vie for the event last December.
If successful, the competition will be hosted throughout the island of Ireland.
Both the Irish Government and the Northern Ireland Executive have backed the bid with the GAA also offering its support.
In December, the IRFU estimated the total cost of putting together the proposal would be €1.5m.
