Ex who kicked in door is fined
A MAN who was "highly-strung and emotional" when he kicked in his ex-girlfriend's door has been convicted of breaching a safety order.
Garreth Lokko (23) was fined €100 and paid €20 for the damage.
Lokko, of Dun Faithne View, Balbriggan, pleaded guilty before Balbriggan District Court to breaching the safety order after he shouted through the front door letterbox and kicked in the door at in Hampton Gardens.
Lokko gave Judge Dermot Dempsey his assurance he would abide by the order.
Two fighter jets up for auction
Two former RAF fighter jets are to be sold at a public auction this weekend.
A 1976 Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR3 jump jet and a 1988 Panavia Tornado F3 will go under the hammer at Silverstone racetrack in Northamptonshire.
The Harrier, which served during the Cold War, Belize and the Falklands, is described as being preserved "in almost time capsule condition".
The Tornado is the only privately-owned F3 in the world.
Pharrell happy at song success
Pharrell Williams' hit, Happy, has brought further joy to his music bosses by pulling off a rare sales feat.
The track has become only the fourth single to be declared triple platinum in the past 20 years, meaning it has achieved 1.8 million sales.
Happy topped the singles chart in December and has not left the top 20 this year. It has notched up more than 25 million streams, the equivalent of 250,000 sales which has taken it past the 1.8 million barrier.
Gun disguised as walking stick
A shotgun disguised as a walking stick has been handed in to police.
The .410 bore weapon appears to be a cane walking stick but has a shotgun concealed within the casing.
It was handed in to police during a "Give up the Gun" firearms amnesty run by Greater Manchester Police, which has seen more than 150 weapons surrendered.
The walking stick is estimated to have been manufactured in the late 1800s.
