Eoghan McDermott to take over Colm Hayes' 2fm evening slot
Presenter Eoghan McDermott looks set to get his own evening radio show on 2fm.
After filling in for Louise McSharry while she battled cancer earlier this year, the Voice of Ireland host will present a new weekday show 4.30pm to 7pm on the station from September - taking over from veteran Colm Hayes.
RTE revealed that current Drive By presenter Colm will move to a new weekend morning slot called Weekend Breakfast with Colm Hayes, which will air from 7am to 10am, leaving Lottie Ryan's 6am Sunday show unaffected.
The shuffle marks the fourth time Hayes' slot has been changed by RTE since he joined the station in 2007, when he moved from FM104 to present the weekday breakfast show with colleague Jim Jim Nugent.
After parting ways with his former Strawberry Alarm Clock co-presenter Nugent, the Dubliner presented the short-lived Colm and Lucy Show with broadcaster Lucy Kennedy after Gerry Ryan's death in 2010.
He then hosted the Colm Hayes show in the 11am to 1pm slot from later on in 2010, before being replaced by Nicky Byrne and DJ Jenny Greene last year, and took over the station's drivetime show.
The broadcaster said that the move lets him focus on his business Colm Hayes Media.
