FORMER Miss Ireland Emma Waldron is making the most of her stint in the Big Apple - including hanging out with supermodel Tyra Banks.

The Kildare model met up with the founder of America's Next Top Model at a glitzy charity bash in New York.

The party, in aid of the Lower Eastside Girls Club Spring Benefit, was held at the Bowery Hotel Terrace.

The charity is dedicated to supporting girls aged between eight and 18 develop confidence. It is close to Tyra's heart as she has set up workshops through it as part of her TZone foundation for girls in the area.

Men in Black actress Rosario Dawson also turned out to attend the benefit.

Emma, who qualified as a teacher after winning the Miss Ireland crown, made the move to the States in January.

transformation

Just a few months and a transformation from a brunette to a blonde later, the 26-year-old has been making waves.

This month she has been filming a movie that is being filmed in Manhattan.

In a strange twist for the model, Emma has also had a mural of her face painted on a wall in the uber-trendy Williamsburg area of Brooklyn by artist Robert Vargas.

The up-and-coming model has also walked in New York Fashion Week and at a show attended by top designer Tommy Hilfiger.

But it hasn't been all work and no play for Emma since leaving home. She recently enjoyed a trip to sunny Mexico City.

While there, she met up with her Miss World pal Anacampana Solis, who competed as Miss Mexico in 2010.

Although Emma is a svelte size 10, she has been working as a so-called curve model since relocating.

Previously, she told the Herald that she wasn't concerned about her new curvy label.

"My body is my body and it doesn't matter what label they put on it," she said at the time.

Her confident attitude, no doubt, went down a storm with Tyra, who is famous for hitting back at critics who have made cruel comments about her weight.

The chat show star once went undercover in a fat suit to highlight how overweight women are mistreated.

Emma is also an advocate for body confidence and has appeared on MSNBC to chat about plus-size models.
