Former Love/Hate star Barry Keoghan's career isn't slowing down any time soon.

The Summerhill native has been listed among Variety magazine's Top 10 Actors to Watch.

He made the American entertainment mag's annual list after a critically acclaimed turn in Christopher Nolan's war epic Dunkirk.

The film - which also stars Cillian Murphy and One Direction singer Harry Styles - won the Best Screenplay award at this year's Cannes Festival.

Past honorees in Variety's prestigious list include The Help actress Viola Davis (the only black woman to be nominated for three Oscars), Glass Castle star Brie Larson and Lupita Nyong'o who played Patsey in Steve McQueen's historical drama 12 Years A Slave. All are Oscar winners or nominees.

Fellow Irish actors Eve Hewson and Stuart Townsend have also appeared in previous lists.

Vibes

Keoghan is set to star in psychological horror-thriller The Killing Of A Sacred Deer alongside Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman this November.

Despite his growing profile, Keoghan (24) recently told the Herald that he would never forsake his home city for the bright lights of Hollywood.

"Jesus, no. I feel that it's a great place to be [LA], good vibes or whatever, but here I feel I have my feet on the ground, or in the mud as it may be.

"I'm surrounded by good people and I just think over there, it could go to my head and I don't want that.

"Taking [Dun-kirk] home is unreal, as is getting to tell this story, which a lot of Irish people don't know about. There were a lot of Irish in it but young lads don't know about it."

Keoghan got his big break in acting as the infamous 'cat killer' Wayne in RTE's Love/Hate in 2013.

He also appeared in Yann Demange's Northern Ireland-based film '71 in 2014, as well as roles in The Lobster and Mammal.

He recently finished filming Black 47, a drama set during the Great Famine.

Ranger

It follows the story of Feeney, a hardened Irish Ranger who has been fighting for the British abroad. Shocked by the famine's destruction, he abandons his post to be with his family.

The Western-style film also stars Moe Dunford, Freddie Fox, Stephen Rea and Hugo Weaving.

Other actors in the 2017 Variety list are Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Kiersey Clemons (Justice League) and Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$).
