Dublin needs to be a Smart City, says Keegan

Smart adoption and application of new technology, innovation and the development of integrated city systems can make a major contribution to Dublin, the head Dublin City Council Owen Keegan said yesterday.

"Dublin faces significant challenges in simultaneously delivering economic growth, a high quality of life and an acceptable environmental footprint," he told the 'Smart City' breakfast conference.

Dublin City Council is committed to being at the forefront of smart city development, including by serving as a testing ground new transport, environment and energy management practices, Mr Keegan said.
