YOU'VE heard of Miami Ink, LA Ink and London Ink... now it's Dublin Ink.

A brand new reality show following artists in a Dublin tattoo studio will hit our television screens in the coming weeks.

Dublin Ink will revolve around the aptly named Dublin Ink tattoo studio in Cow's Lane, Temple Bar.

The show is set to go out on an as yet unnamed Irish TV channel this summer, before the Discovery Channel decide whether to run it on its international service.

A representative for the Discovery Channel told the Herald the project has recently been brought to their attention and are "looking into it".

However, when asked if Dublin could be joining the other cities in the Ink franchise , the spokesperson added: "Never say never, Miami Ink and London Ink have been hugely successful and been very popular with viewers."

The show has already generated a huge amount of interest in spite of the fact that it has not even begun filming.

John Connolly, the spokesperson for the studio said that they will be keeping the details of the production under wraps over the coming weeks, but hope to start filming late next month.

"Right now, we're in the pre-production stage, but we hope to get started in five to six weeks."

Dublin Ink is set to officially open next weekend, after co-owners Robert Connolly and Leigh Guerrine decided to set up the business after noticing a gap in the market.
