Thieves have been targeting cars and bikes in the Drumcondra area in recent weeks.

In February alone, four cars were broken into on the Carlingford Road.

It is now happening so frequently that Dublin City Council don't have time to clean up the glass in between incidents in the area, said a local source.

These car break-ins have also coincided with a spike in bike thefts in the area.

More than a dozen bikes were reported stolen in the Shandon Park area of Drumcondra in the last month.

Another hotspot area has been around Iona Road and Iona Crescent.

The latest spate of car break-ins and bike thefts comes after a women was car-jacked outside her home, last month, just off Griffith Avenue.

While a significant number of burglaries were not reported in Drumcondra last month, gardai still carried out checks there.

An anti-burglary check-point was put in place at the end of February at Millbourne Avenue.
