Drugs crimes on increase
The biggest crime issue in the Rathmines area over the last four weeks relates to drug-dealing.
There have been significant amounts of drugs seizures in the area in recent weeks, according to a source.
Two residential areas in particular have been badly impacted by the drugs scene.
"This is the high priority crime issue that leads to anti-social behaviour in certain estates and presents a risk for all youths in the wider area," a source has warned.
"Drug dealers seek to recruit new people into drug use, with consequent life damaging episodes."
The two housing estates at the centre of the drug-dealing have both seen "filter out" effects, with young dealers in the area also being recruited.
