Delay in Tanaiste egg throwing trial

THE trial of a protester accused of throwing eggs at Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore's BMW has been adjourned.

On October 5, the Tanaiste was attending an event to promote the children's rights referendum when his car was allegedly attacked by protesters at the Blackditch Road, in Ballyfermot, in west Dublin.

The demonstration was staged following reports that the Government plans to cut the children's allowance.

Later that day, protester Donall O Ceallaigh (28), of Harold's Cross Road, Dublin 6, was charged with criminal damage to a 5-Series BMW and breach of the peace.

He pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned at Dublin District Court.
