Dedicated GAA fan never misses

Dedicated Dublin GAA fan and community volunteer Bobby Shane Gillece was crowned 'Best Dub' at last night's 98FM's Best of Dublin awards.

Bobby (23) is an avid Dublin fan. He told the Herald: "I've been supporting Dublin all my life, I grew up on Clonliffe Road and so GAA and Croke Park have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember."

"I've never missed Dublin play in Croke Park."

Speaking about this year's All-Ireland senior football championship, he said: "I'd say the Dublin football team have a good chance this year; we're definitely going to be hard to beat."

Bobby spends his weekends tirelessly training youths known as ' Vinnie's boys' at St Vincent's GAA Club in Marino.

His dedication to Dublin even stretches to his tattoos as Bobby has an entire sleeve tattoo dedicated to Dublin landmarks, including Molly Malone, the GPO, the Four Courts and the Ha'apenny Bridge.

"I can't believe I won, it was such a surprise to be nominated by Vinnie's GAA club at all, and it was amazing how the entire community has got behind me.

"It's amazing to say that I won and say that I'm officially the proudest Dub," he said.
