DCC accused of censorship in bin debate
DUBLIN City Council has become embroiled in yet another "censorship" row after a blazing argument between councillors and officials was omitted from its online broadcast.
A number of councillors contacted the Herald claiming that over 15 minutes of footage showing a council meeting row over bins was not included in the official online broadcast.
One councillor told the Herald today she was "100pc sure" the council omitted the footage intentionally.
A council spokesperson, however, completely rejected the claims -- blaming the omission on a "technical error".
Eirigi Councillor Louise Minihan has accused the council of political censorship: "It's clear Dublin City Council did not like what we had to say and decided to remove our contributions. Weak excuses that this was due to a technical problem do not cover up what in reality is a blatant example of political censorship and an attempt to silence the democratically elected representatives of the people of Dublin."
