Aidan O'Mahony may have won five hard-fought All-Ireland football titles with Kerry, but the GAA star is a softie at heart.

The former footballer marked one week since the birth of his first child - little girl Lucia - with an adorable snap.

The Kerry All-Star (36) and his wife Denise Healy welcomed the new arrival last week and shared the news with fans on Instagram.

"Our little angel joined us at 9am this morning," he said.

To celebrate the newborn's first week, Aidan shared an image of little Lucia lying beside a chalkboard which read "1 week old".

Positive

In the photo, Lucia is wrapped up in a pink blanket with a matching rabbit soft toy.

As he looked forward to becoming a father, Dancing With The Stars contestant Aidan previously told the Herald: "I'm really looking forward to it because it is such a positive thing in your life."

Ever the professional, he returned to perform on the RTE show days after the newborn's arrival, and managed to avoid the dreaded dance-off after the public voted him through to tomorrow's semi-final.

Aidan will take to the stage alongside Dayl Cronin, Aoibhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack.

It has been a busy few weeks for Aidan, who has been dividing his time between his native Kerry and Dublin for dancing rehearsals.

The serving garda officer has become a genuine contender on the dance show after scoring a 10 for his impressive Charleston with professional partner Valeria Milova.

However, less rehearsal time last week saw his performance dip slightly and he was told he needs to swing his hips more.
