Dad jailed over motorbike theft

A young Dublin man has been jailed for a year for his role in a sophisticated motorcycle theft ring.

Gerard Kelly (23), a father-of-one, of Charleville Mall, north Dublin, in the north inner city, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to handling a stolen Honda motorbike at Santry on December 12, 2007.

The ringleader, Derek Hutch (25), of Chapel Farm Avenue, Lusk, was sentenced to three years in jail in March for unlawfully possessing motorbikes but received a total of 19 years, with two suspended, for additional consecutive offences, including possession of a pistol.



Garda-biter robbed garage

A woman who was previously jailed for biting a garda has received a two-year suspended sentence for robbery.

Sandra Pepper (41) of Kilclare Drive, Tallaght, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbing €155 from the Statoil garage on Old Belgard Road, in Tallaght, on February 3, 2008.

Pepper was sentenced to two years in prison in November 2007 by Judge Desmond Hogan after she pleaded guilty to assaulting Garda Padraig Mullarkey on December 2, 2006.

Judge Ryan said she was impressed by Pepper's efforts at rehabilitation and suspended her sentence for three years.



Buffy actress seeks divorce

FORMER Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Emma Caulfield has filed for divorce.

The 37-year-old has cited irreconcilable differences for the split from Cornelius Grobbelaar in documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The pair were married four years ago.

Caulfield played the vengeance demon Anya in the cult supernatural TV series.
