Crowds go wild for Hozier at celebrity-filled Coachella festival
HE'S already conquered this part of the world and Hozier is setting the US alight, as he discovered when he was the toast of the celebrity-filled Coachella festival in California this weekend.
The crowds went wild for the Bray native's 50-minute set and he even surprised them with a performance with indie favourite Este Haim of the band Haim.
The pair teamed up to sing 1984 classic Jungle Love and the Dubliner received rave reviews for his performance in the California desert.
The Hollywood Reporter said that the 25-year-old played "to a massing throng stretched far back along the field".
They added that his set "seemingly set out to prove that his repertoire goes deeper than one great song", and he "displayed song-writing chops and showmanship".
He even had a few celebrity fans as he met up with Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul after his set.
Meanwhile, the Take Me to Church singer has once again rubbished rumours that he is dating megastar Taylor Swift.
"I live out of a suitcase. I'm very conscious of how I can't commit to anything, and I'm also very conscious of letting somebody down," he said when he was asked about those rumours.
While he's going to be on tour for the rest of the year, the young musician is not exactly enjoying all the questions about his personal life.
"Just this morning one of the first questions I was asked in an interview was, 'When was the last time you had sex?'
"You wouldn't ask a stranger that. There was no context to it.
"I can't imagine myself being in the public eye for the long haul," he added.
Another Irish star enjoying the festival is former MTV presenter Laura Whitmore.
She is reporting from the festival for Hunger magazine and, naturally, the 29-year-old has been attending the most glamorous parties.
"Coachella festival is very different to its British counterpart. It's a little bit more fabulous, less muddy, more sequins and an excuse to have a sun holiday while listening to pretty damn good music," she explained on her blog.
"The good thing is the musicians also have the excuse to party and enjoy a holiday so all-round positive vibes."
There's lots of celeb spotting at the festival and people like Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber and Clint Eastwood have been spotted enjoying themselves.
"Firstly the parties. Oh my the parties. We mingled withthe likes of Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Daisy Lowe and Kate Bosworth at the Soho Desert House Party," Laura revealed.
"Then it was straight on to the site dressed in my favourite staple Lee denim shorts and shirt.
"The highlight was ultimate rock legends AC/DC who played an electric set for over two hours.
"We spotted an array of celeb fans in the crowd including two living music legends Ringo Starr, and Sir Paul McCartney," she added.
