Organised gangs from outside the locality have been targeting the homes of elderly people in Ballyfermot.

Criminals have been calling to the homes of elderly people, and when the door is answered, they push past them and rob contents from the house, according to locals.

"They sometimes carry magnets in their hands, in order to lift jewellery, without leaving any fingerprints," said a source.

Residents are told to be vigilant about door-to-door callers claiming to be selling goods like tools and services like grass-cutting.
