Credit card debt crisis
THE average credit card debt in Ireland stands at €1,330, down only slightly from 2008, new figures have revealed.
Credit card debt peaked in 2008 at the height of the boom at €1,350 but this figure has dropped only marginally, according to figures supplied to an Oireachtas Committee today.
The head of statistics at the Central Bank, Joe McNeill, said tthere was a core of historic debt that was not being repaid.
