Woman threw cup of water at garda
A WOMAN assaulted a doctor at a garda station by throwing a plastic cup of water at him, a court heard.
Aoife Quigley (30) threw the water in a cell after he could not give her the medication she requested.
Judge Patrica McNamara adjourned the case against her at Dublin District Court for a pre-sentence probation report.
The court heard Quigley was intoxicated during the incident on September 7 last year.
She had been given a cup of water when the doctor was called to see her.
He was unable to give her the medication she requested, and as he walked out of the cell she threw the water at him.
When the garda stopped her leaving the cell, she pulled the epaulette on his shirt, tearing it.
A short time later, she was seen scratching her initials into the cell wall.
Quigley, of Newtown Court, Coolock, admitted assaulting Dr Yasser Fakih.
She also admitted damaging Gda Daniel Eccles’ uniform and a cell at Coolock Garda Station.
A medical report on Quigley was before the court, and from it, her solicitor Michael Hanahoe said, it was clear that “things have not been going well for her”.
He said she needed “guidance”.
Judge McNamara said a probation report would be appropriate.
