Woman given more time to pay back €270
A WOMAN who mixed alcohol with dental medication and stole nearly €300 worth of alcohol from a Balbriggan Hotel has been given more time to come up with compensation.
Tracey Carmody (40) went behind the bar at the Bracken Court Hotel and stole seven bottles of alcohol worth €270.
She then left the premises with the drink. Carmody, of Pinewood Green Lawns, Balbriggan, was later identified on CCTV footage and was arrested by gardai.
Carmody pleaded guilty at Swords District Court to the theft on January 29.
Garda Ciara Geraghty said Carmody was in the bar area of the hotel at around 5pm when she went behind the counter and took the bottles of alcohol and left the bar.
Defence solicitor Fiona D'Arcy said Carmody has "very little recollection" of the event as she was taking strong medication for dental difficulties and mixed the medication with alcohol.
At a previous court sitting, Carmody was given until the end of July to pay the hotel €270 in compensation. However, Ms D'Arcy told the court since the incident Carmody has lost her job and requires more time to come up with the money.
Judge Patricia McNamara agreed to adjourn the case until September 21 for the money to be paid.
