TWO men have appeared in court accused of arson at a west Dublin apartment.

Patrick McDonagh (26) and Christopher O'Reilly (28) are charged with damaging by fire the patio door and balcony of an apartment on two separate occasions.

Judge David McHugh adjourned the matter for four weeks to allow the men to speak with their solicitors.

Mr McDonagh, of Castle- mill Apartments, Balbriggan, and Mr O'Reilly, of Remount, Racecourse Commons, Lusk, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with two counts of arson.

The incidents allegedly took place at Westend village last November 6 and 9.

In the arson attacks, it is alleged that Mr McDonagh and Mr O'Reilly damaged the patio door and balcony of the property.

The men are further accused of damaging three cars at Westend village last August 14, October 15 and October 22.

Gda Bernard Connaughton said the DPP has directed summary of the matters in the District Court on a guilty plea only.

This means that if the men deny the charges, they face trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court.

Judge McHugh ordered the disclosure of any statements in relation to the allegations.

The men have not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
