Too much temptation in way for aftershave thief

A FATHER-TO-BE who shoplifted aftershave did not take it for his own personal use, a court heard.

Raymond Kelly (34) with an address at North Circular Road, Dublin, hid the bottle in his pocket but was confronted by security.

He pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of Calvin Klein aftershave at Hickey's Pharmacy, Phibsboro, on November 2, 2012.

The prosecuting garda told the court the accused passed all points of payment before being arrested and taken to Mountjoy Garda Station.

Kelly had since moved away from the area, where there was a "negative peer group influence" and "too much temptation", his solicitor said.

Judge Michael Walsh was told the product was often sold on the black market and was not for Kelly's own personal use.

Kelly was fined €300 at Dublin District Court for the theft.

The Beatles started a revolution back in the USSR

If ever a band has been well served by the literary world it's The Beatles. Practically every aspect of that revolutionary body of work has been dealt with in book form... or so one would have thought. From Hunter Davies' The Beatles, through Philip Norman's Shout, Bob Spitz's humongously detailed history and Ian McDonald's brilliant Revolution in the Head, which offered a musical and contextual analysis of every song they ever recorded, surely there's nothing left of interest to diehard fans of the Fabs. Well, think again.
