A DUBLIN man who admitted stealing tools and a laptop from an ESB van has had his case adjourned so he can spend Christmas with his sick father.
Gareth Joyce (30) realises he faces going to jail and he asked the judge to show him some compassion.
Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the matter to January for facts and sentence.
Joyce, of Donomore Park in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to possession of a screwdriver for use in a theft.
Joyce also admitted to damaging the door lock of a vehicle belonging to ESB Networks and stealing a laptop and bag of a tools, worth €2,500 from the vehicle on June 10.
