THE case of a Dublin youth accused of attacking and injuring a teenage football player after a match could be struck out in the New Year.
The 17-year-old had been charged at the Children's Court with assault causing harm to a boy, in his mid-teens, after the alleged attack in south Dublin in May last year.
Judge Michael Walsh was told in October that gardai had yet to obtain a medical report.
Yesterday he heard that gardai were still waiting to hear back from a surgeon who will draft the report.
Judge Walsh adjourned the case for six weeks but marked it peremptory against the State meaning it could be struck out if there is no progress when the case resumes in January.
The teen was remanded on continuing bail. He has not yet indicated how he will plead.
