'Stressed' Kitchen porter had €960 worth of cannabis
A KITCHEN porter who bought nearly €1,000 worth of cannabis for himself and his friends was "under stress" at the time, a court heard.
Nasir Hosany (39) was caught with the drug in his apartment when gardai searched it.
Judge Ann Ryan said it was a considerable amount and a prison sentence was "a possibility".
She adjourned the case at Dublin District Court for a probation report.
Hosany, of Sinnott Place, Dublin 7, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply on February 13, 2012.
The court heard gardai searched the flat under a warrant and found 48 grammes of cannabis herb worth €960. The value put on the drug was based on a street value of €20 per gramme.
The accused arrived and was arrested. He was co-operative throughout and had no previous convictions.
His barrister said the value at the time may have been around €12 per gramme. The accused, who is from Mauritius, had been taking the drug and would take his friends' money and buy it for them as well.
At the time, there were stresses in his life that led him to use cannabis on a regular basis, the barrister said.
"This has been a wake-up call for him," he added.
