Olympic hero John Joe Nevin faces court over row
OLYMPIC silver medallist John Joe Nevin will appear in court tomorrow after being arrested in relation to a pub fight.
Nevin, who represented Ireland in the London 2012 Olympics, has been told to appear in court in his native Mullingar, Co Westmeath over an incident there on Monday night.
Sources say Mr Nevin (25, below) was one of five men arrested after a row broke out in the Stillery Pub on Dominick Street in the town at 11.30pm that night. All five were bailed to appear at Mullingar District Court tomorrow.
Nevin told the Herald he will not be able to appear in person because of training commitments. The boxer has recently returned to the ring after recovering from leg injuries sustained in a row in another incident in the town just over a year ago after which he declined to pursue charges.
