A MUM-of-one assaulted a store security guard by spitting in his face when she became "irate" at being asked to leave.

Lisa Lawless (25) spat on the staff member at a Dublin city centre clothes shop.

Judge Grainne O'Neill fined her €400 for the assault and other offences when she pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court.

Lawless, of Sarsfield Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, admitted assault at Penney's, O'Connell Street on December 6.

The court heard gardai were called to the shop, where staff said the accused had been asked to leave.

Lawless had refused before becoming irate and violent. She began pushing the staff and on leaving the shop, she spat in a security guard's face.

She returned the following day and apologised to the victim, who had not required any medical attention. She also admitted separate trespass charges.

Gardai found her trespassing at the bottom of stairs leading to the basement of a building owned by Trinity College at Foster Place on October 7, 2014.

On January 27, 2015 Lawless was found hiding under a stairwell in the reception area at Gravel Walk Apartments, Hendrick Street.

She gave a false name but her correct identity was established after she was arrested.

The court heard Lawless had previous issues with drug addiction and the offences happened during a relapse.
