Man tore McDonalds manager's shirt after being asked to leave

A DUBLIN man grabbed a restaurant manager by the arm and tore his shirt pocket after he was thrown out.

John Connors (35) apologised for his behaviour, saying he is no longer drinking and is trying to remain sober.

Judge Bridget Reilly adjourned the matter to a date in September.

The defendant, of Kilbogget Grove in Cabinteely, had admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to assaulting a supervisor in McDonald's, George's Street in Dun Laoghaire last September 13.

Garda Garrett Lawlor said Connors was asked to leave the restaurant as he was drunk and verbally aggressive.

Connors refused to leave and as he was being escorted out he grabbed the supervisor's arm and tore his shirt pocket.

The defendant, an unemployed father of two, has 87 previous convictions.

Defence solicitor Ronnie Lynam said the defendant has a chronic drink problem, but is making an effort to stay sober.
