Man (23) sold stolen bikes to pay debts

A GYM worker caught trying to sell stolen bicycles in Dublin had found himself into financial difficulties through debts run up from steroid use.

Leroy McCarthy (23) was given an 18-month suspended sentence and fined ¤300 after Judge Cormac Dunne described the crimes as "planned and schematic".

Dublin District Court heard McCarthy had been asked to sell the bikes by someone else and two of the offences happened within two days of each other.

McCarthy, with an address at Crinian Strand, Sheriff Street Lower, pleaded guilty to handling stolen property on three dates late last year in the north inner city.
