'I'll scar you for life', man told ex-partner
A MAN threatened to scar his ex-partner for life after he placed his hands around her neck, a court has heard.
William Lawrence (25), who was intoxicated at the time, later told gardai he would "never do anything to her".
Lawrence, of Ardla Cottages in Skerries, pleaded guilty to threatening to kill or cause harm to the woman at Bremore Castle in Balbriggan on March 30 last year. He further pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman on the same date.
Sergeant Tony Tighe told Balbriggan District Court that Lawrence, who has 16 previous convictions, went to his ex-partner's house and when she asked him was he under the influence of an intoxicant, an argument broke out.
"He placed his hands around her neck and forced her to the ground," said Sgt Tighe.
When she asked him to leave, he told her, "I'm going to scar you for life".
Sgt Tighe said the woman has now been forced to move from the house for her own safety.
Lawrence said during garda interviews, he was disgusted with himself and he would "never do anything to her".
Judge Dempsey ordered that Lawrence undergo alcohol awareness and anger management before he adjourned the case until September.
