Gym owner smashed woman's television after things 'got out of hand'
A GYM owner who went home with a woman after a night of socialising smashed her TV and window when things got “out of hand.”
Adam Scully (29) had drunk a “lot of alcohol” before causing the damage in the victim’s apartment.
Judge John Coughlan ordered him to pay €1,100 in compensation and adjourned the case at Dublin District Court after hearing Scully and the victim knew each other.
Scully pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage.
The court heard the incident happened at an apartment at Aspen Drive, Kinsealy, on August 29 last year.
Gda Shane Meenaghan was called to the scene at 5.16am and the victim said she and a friend had been out socialising before the accused had come back to the apartment.
He was quite intoxicated and “ended up smashing” the LED TV and a rear window, causing just under €1,700 worth of damage. He left when told to.
Scully, of Ellenfield Walk, Clarehall, later went to Coolock Garda Station by appointment.
“He was back in the young lady’s apartment, there was a lot of alcohol taken,” Scully’s barrister said.
“He was known to the injured party. For some reason, matters got out of hand.”
Scully recently started his own gym business, his barrister said.
“Being very blunt, if he doesn’t pay compensation, he goes away,” Judge Coughlan said and reduced compensation because the TV was not new.
