Graham Dwyer Trial : Video clips of Dwyer appearing to stab Elaine O'Hara shown to jury
Two video clips showing Graham Dwyer appearing to stab Elaine O'Hara has been shown to the Central Criminal Court.
The jury were shown a total of 11 brief video clips earlier today - two of these clips showed the accused on his own while the remainder showed him with an unidentified women.
In their cross-examination, defence counsel stated it was their client Graham Dwyer in the video clips. They also stated that Elaine O'Hara was the woman in the third and fourth video clips. In one clip, Ms O'Hara is gagged and bound while apparently stabbed repeatedly in the back and abdomen.
In another she is seen "whimpering" after she appears to be stabbed by Dwyer.
The clips were shown on the 32nd day of the murder trial of Graham Dwyer.
Mr Dwyer (42), an architect of Kerrymount Close, Foxrock, is pleading not guilty to the murder of Ms O’Hara (36), a childcare assistant, at Killakee, Rathfarnham on August 22, 2012.
Her remains were found by a dog walker in undergrowth in the Dublin mountains on September 13, 2013.
The prosecution maintains Mr Dwyer killed her for his own sexual gratification.
The first clip showed Mr Dwyer "pretending" to stab himself in the side with a retractable knife. It was called Blood2.mp4
The second clip also featured Mr Dwyer alone. On this occasion, it showed Mr Dwyer speaking to a camera explaining that he has just woken up after having knocked himself out with chloroform.
“I’m just after waking up from having knocked myself out with chloroform,” he tells the camera.
“I have very little recollection of what happened. I remember exhaling out and getting a warning sign and waking up with a pounding noise in n my head, like a headache and a loud noise.”
The third clip featured a naked woman, bound and apparently gagged as her screams are muffled, with her arms behind her back. In this clip a naked man - Mr Dwyer - stabs the woman, whose feet are also bound in chains, repeatedly in the abdomen from behind. Counsel subsequently stated this woman was Elaine O'Hara.
In the fourth clip, Mr Dwyer is shown cutting a woman who is whimpering. He appears to stab her and rub the knife used along her skin several times during intercourse and she screams after the apparent stabbing. Counsel for Mr Dwyer stated that this woman was Elaine O'Hara.
"Now, that wasn't bad, was it?" the man is heard saying after the act.
The fifth clip shown to the jury again features a woman who is bound and gagged. In this clip, Mr Dwyer, sits astride the woman whose skin he stabs with a knife. This clip featured screams from the woman with whom he has full sex whilst she is bound.
The sixth clip was called "Attempted Breast stab" and featured a woman, whose face was pixellated and whose hands were bound by handcuffs, sitting in a bed.
A man, Mr Dwyer, is seen in this clip climbing behind her and attempting to stab her breast. The woman is screaming in the short video clip. When the act ends, the woman says "F***ing hell, f**k me. Stop this please".
Clip number 7 was entitled “Bloodletting”. In this clip a man, Mr Dwyer, again takes a woman, again seated on a bed, from behind. He holds her breast and draws his knife. The man then dismounts from the bed to allow the camera to see a close up shot of the breast which he holds in his hand and squeezes blood from.
The details of the next video, called First Stabbing, again features a man, Mr Dwyer, stabbing a bound and gagged woman on at least nine occasions. In this eighth video, the woman screams in distress.
The title of the next clip was called "Third Stabbing" which featured a woman, again pixellated. The woman is screaming out and sobbing as a man, alleged to be Mr Dwyer, proceeds to stabs her with a knife. He soothes the woman in this ninth video by saying "ssh, ssh" before performing a sex act.
The tenth clip was called After Third Stabbing, the camera rolls along the body of the still gagged woman and shows blood streaming from her side onto the bed, which had white sheets.
The final, 11th clip, was called "Fake Stabbing". This clip showed Mr Dwyer with a bound and gagged woman stabbing her repeatedly with a retractable knife. The woman is pixellated in this clip and is repeatedly stabbed with the retractable knife in the breasts, abdomen and neck but it not marked.
The trial before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and a jury of seven men and five women.
