Drunken trainee roared at woman garda in food row
A TRAINEE mechanic drunkenly threw himself to the ground and wrapped his arms around a bus stop to stop gardai from arresting him, a court heard.
Stephen Blair (21) pushed out at a female garda after she asked his name, shouting at her to "f**k off" and "leave me alone".
Blair said he was polite at all times and he approached them as he wanted to make a complaint about a security guard who burst in on him while he was in a restaurant toilet.
A judge said Blair's account of the incident was "unlikely" and fined him €850.
Blair, of Forest Court in Swords, had denied charges of public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.
Garda Grainne Dempsey told Swords District Court she was called to McDonald's on Main Street, Swords at around 1.30am on May 7 following reports of a male causing a disturbance. The court heard reasonable force had to be used by gardai to arrest Blair.
