A YOUNG reveller who smashed up a parking meter with a hammer was out of his mind on drink, a court heard.
Scott Grant (23) claimed he had no memory of the incident, and was now on anti-drink medication as he was getting into so much trouble when he drank.
He caused €1,500 worth of damage to a Fingal County Council parking meter.
Judge Patrick Brady ordered Grant to pay compensation of €1,000, fined him €1,350 and ordered him to complete 150 hours community service in lieu of six months in prison.
Grant, of Pinewood Green Court in Balbriggan, admitted before Swords District Court to charges of drunkenness, threatening and abusive behaviour and criminal damage.
The incident took place at Railway Street in Balbriggan shortly before midnight on December 18 last year.
