A FATHER-of-one was caught by gardai with a single €1,000 deal of heroin on a Dublin street.

Ross Gleeson (29) had the drug along with €335 in cash on him when he was stopped by gardai.

Judge Hugh O'Donnell adjourned the case against him at Dublin District Court for a pre-sentence probation report.

Gleeson, of Stanaway Road, Crumlin, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to sell or supply.

The incident happened at Cork Street in the south inner city on November 20 last year.

A garda sergeant told Judge O'Donnell the drug was in a single deal rather than being split up.

"That is some large deal," Judge O'Donnell remarked.

Gleeson had no previous convictions.

The sergeant agreed with solicitor Matthew Kenny, defending, that Gleeson had been co-operative.

The defendant was supporting his one-year-old child and was struggling to find employment, Mr Kenny said.

He asked Judge O'Donnell to take the defendant's guilty plea into consideration.

The charges against Gleeson were under Section 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
