Cannabis accused to face trial next month

A MAN charged with drug offences has been sent forward for trial by judge and jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Alan Boardman (31) appeared before Balbriggan District Court accused of being in possession of cannabis worth more than €13,000 for sale or supply at Ballaghstown Lane, Lusk, last August 7.

He is further alleged to have been in unlawful possession of cannabis and PVP at the same location on the same date.

A state solicitor served the book of evidence on the accused, who has an address at Minister's Rise, Lusk.


Insp Neil Curran told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to the acc- used being sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Dermot Dempsey gave the defendant the alibi caution, warning him that he has 14 days to provide to the State details of anyone he proposes calling as a witness in his defence.

He remanded the accused on continuing bail to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday, May 1.

Judge Dempsey assigned one senior counsel and one junior counsel due to the seriousness of the charges.
