The boy, who is in his mid-teens, had been remanded in custody by the Dublin Children's Court last Thursday after he was charged with taking part in a motor theft, in Dublin city's south-side on January 2.
Last week the court had revoked his bail after hearing he had broken bail terms. He had been barred from parts of Dublin and ordered to obey a nightly curfew but had repeatedly broken these terms in recent weeks.
There are also fears for his safety. An explosive device had been left at an address the boy was allowed to visit and it was "meant for" him, the court has also heard.
