Baby scans and violent sex videos found on hard drive from Dwyer home, jury told

A HARD drive found at murder accused Graham Dwyer's home contained personal family pictures and pregnancy scans as well as videos depicting "rape, throat slashings, extreme violence and blood", the Central Criminal Court has heard.

The jury also heard a graphic account of sexual violence in a story on the same hard drive that detailed the knifepoint abduction and rape of a woman.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt cleared the public from the court as the contents of the electronic storage device were described to the jury.

Mr Dwyer (42), an architect of Kerrymount Close, Foxrock, is pleading not guilty to the murder of Elaine O'Hara (36), a childcare assistant, at Killakee, Rathfarnham, on August 22, 2012.

Her remains were found by a dog walker in undergrowth in the Dublin mountains on September 13, 2013.

The prosecution maintains Mr Dwyer killed her for his own sexual gratification.

MUTILATED

Det Gda Brid Wallace of the Computer Crime Unit said the hard drive was seized at the accused's home on October 17, 2013.

One folder had 19 video files depicting "rape, throat slashings, stabbings and extreme violence and blood".

Another was called "victims", with files from a website with extremely graphic images of mutilated women.

There was also a "good amount of personal content related to Mr Dwyer", prosecutor Sean Guerin said.

This included images and films of family occasions, featuring gatherings such as birthdays, weddings and holidays.

There were also image and movie files related to architectural work, model aeroplanes and cars, including the accused's Porsche. There were pictures of his children and pregnancy scan pictures, Det Gda Wallace agreed.

In a separate folder there was a five-second video clip of a woman bound with rope who was "audibly crying", Mr Guerin said.

"That's correct," Det Sgt Wallace replied.

In another clip, dated May 19, 2011, you could "see in the background of footage, curtains with Chinese style writing on them", similar to what has been identified in photographs of Ms O'Hara on her laptop, Mr Guerin said.

A photoshopped image was found depicting a woman Mr Dwyer had contacted online with a cut throat, naked to the waist, with multiple stab wounds and intestines protruding.

The image was of Darci Day, an American woman he contacted in 2011 and who had given evidence in his trial earlier this week.

Mr Guerin also read out a document entitled "Jenny's first rape".

It was created on May 31, 2005 under the company name "A&D Wejchert Architects" by author "Graham Dwyer".

It began: "It was my first time in Newcastle and the day was fine and dry. I had flown in to visit some of the local sights."

The author said he wanted to see some architectural developments to get ideas for a new building in Dublin.

"I also wanted to feed my lust . . . before my flight back home. Nobody would suspect what was going on in my mind - rape," Mr Guerin read from the story.

He had packed his overnight bag with the "usual things" as well as chloroform, rope and "of course, my hunting knife".

He spoke of the difficulty "getting a knife through customs since those pretty young air hostesses had their throats slit open on 9/11".

After looking for "potential victims" while walking the streets, the author said he stumbled upon an old book shop.

"This is the perfect opportunity to find a timid little flower that will not put up a fight," he said.

He went to the top floor where he said he saw a beautiful young woman.

"She was engrossed in a book in the erotic fiction section, how ironic. I glanced at the cover of the large book, by the Marquis de Sade, a classic book filled with cruelty, rape and murder. I knew this girl was going to be my next victim."

The author said he reached into his pocket for his hunting knife and looked around to see if the coast was clear.

"I also noticed there were no security cameras in this particular area. Sweet," the story continued.

"I withdrew my knife and she squealed with surprise as I clamped her mouth shut and held my knife up in front of her eyes which were now wide with terror."

"Don't make a fucking sound you little c**t," I said in to her ear. "Do you understand me? I'll slit you open in a second and leave you lying in your guts if you scream. Play along and you won't get hurt."

The story told how he brought her to his hotel where he chloroformed her and dragged her into his room.

"I gently undressed her, revealing her sexy black underwear and her hot body . . . Jesus she was so sexy," the story continued. "I cut off her bra with my hunting knife, savouring her terror."

After raping her: "I looked into her terrified face, contorted with pain, fear and rage, mouth open and stuffed with the ball gag. I smiled, 'how was it for you, baby?' Ha ha ha."

The story concluded: "I could see relief creeping into her face . . . bBut that changed to terror again as I picked up my knife. As far as I was concerned the fun was only beginning. The end?"

The trial continues.
