Accused drops plea of insanity
A MAN who had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to a charge of dealing drugs has dropped his insanity defence after giving evidence in court.
Imran Ramzan of Polygon Road, Manchester, has denied possession of cocaine for sale or supply at Station Road, Lusk, Co Dublin, on September 14, 2006.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has already heard evidence that gardai found nine blocks of cocaine stuffed into duvets in the truck that Ramzan was driving.
Yesterday, Judge Patrick McCartan told the jury: "The question of insanity of the accused at the time of the accident is no longer an issue by reason of evidence given by him yesterday."
The trial continues.
