Consumers optimistic

Consumers are optimistic about their prospects but still remain cautious, according to a study of shopping habits by Retail Ireland.

Four out of every ten consumers delayed purchasing expensive like cars and furniture over the last two years, according to Millward Brown research. Consumers are very price sensitive when it comes groceries, it said.

More than three quarters of consumers said they buy more goods on special offer than before the recession and two thirds buy own brand goods.
