Cocoa Brown to go Stateside with Penneys when they open this year

Cocoa Brown tan has signed two lucrative deals in the US - thanks in no small way to a Kardashian nod.

The beauty product is a huge seller in Penneys here and they will make the product available when the first US store is opened in Boston later this year.

Marissa Carter's tan went viral last week when Kylie Jenner - a half sister of the Kardashian sisters - took to Instagram to tell her 26m followers about her love for the Irish brand.

Within 24 hours of Kylie's picture going viral, three months stock of Cocoa Brown had sold out across the US.

"We're really thrilled that Penneys are supporting us and will be stocking Cocoa Brown in their American stores when they open in the autumn," Marissa told the Herald.

"I'll be in America for three weeks in July because I have meetings lined up with almost all of the large drugstore chains including Walgreens, CVS and Ulta."

The news comes as it was confirmed that supermarket giant Wal-Mart will also be stocking her products.

Deal

"I had been back and forth with Wal-Mart for around six months - I'd sent them samples of the products and received good feedback, but I hadn't managed to get a deal over the line," she explained.

"But when I emailed them to let them know about Kylie's photo, they came back very quickly and said they were going to list Cocoa Brown.

"I know I will have to start in a small number of their stores and work from there.

"But I'm confident that we can replicate the success we've seen with other big retailers," she added.

Her tan is now stocked in more than 5,000 stores across the globe but Marissa said she won't be selling the brand any time soon.

"I used to think that I would build Cocoa Brown to a certain level and then sell it," she said.

"But there is so much more I can do with it that now I don't know if I will ever sell.

"I believe it has the potential to become the biggest-selling tanning brand in the world."
