Chinese reality TV show beckons for model Aoife

WITH just over a week to go until Miss Ireland 2013 Aoife Walsh relinquishes her crown, the auburn beauty is turning her sights to the year ahead.

The Tipperary model has made a big impression in China and could be jetting back to the country for a more long-term visit next year to film a reality television show, setting a precedent for Irish models.

The 24-year old travelled to Guangzhou, near Hong Kong, last October as the face of Irish occasion-wear brand So Amazing to take part in the world's biggest fashion trade show.

She wowed the Asian market with her stunning looks and was approached by a Chinese production company to take part in a fly on the wall documentary series about a foreign model trying to make it in the country's fashion industry.

"We are still in the corresponding stage but it is definitely something I would consider," she said.

"There's a lot of potential out there and I would hope to capitalise on that in the future."

The venture would involve the bubbly model relocating to China for three months next year in a move that mirrors that of comedian Des Bishop, who made a documentary about his own attempts to learn Chinese and do stand-up over there.

Aoife, who has three degrees under her belt, will be returning to the country this October for a three-week spell after numerous opportunities arose from her trip last year to shoot with Chinese brands for their catalogues.

"My Celtic look definitely stands out in China; I've been stopped on the street and even asked for photographs," she said.

Aoife will be attending this year's final of the Miss Ireland contest which takes place in the glitzy Ballsbridge Hotel on July 19.

Emotional

And the Clonmel native admits the day will be emotional.

"As the date approaches I've been feeling more and more sad. The whole experience has been life-changing and has been such a great platform for me within the modelling industry," she said.
