Cheerful Susan's a big hit with early birds

Awards

who doesn't like their morning coffee served with a smile?

Susan Byrne, a Starbucks barista, has been nominated as the capital's best morning person in 98FM's Best of Dublin awards.

This is not her first time to be recognised for her cheery disposition - she was also nominated last year.

Susan (below), from Beaumont, said she was delighted with the nod from her customers for her hard work and friendly service.

She has worked in Starbucks in the CHQ centre at the IFSC for three years, so she is an old hand at 6.30am starts.

"I try to keep cheerful - it costs nothing to be nice at that time of the morning," she said.

"I always have a joke and a laugh with all my customers.

"Lots of them have been talking to me about it, and they're nearly more excited than I am.

"If I win I won't stop talking about it. I'll be teasing my colleagues that I'm the best!"

Susan (48) will find out if she has scooped the title of Dublin's best morning person at a ceremony next Wednesday.

Adrian Kennedy will host the event.

Last month, 98FM put out the call for listeners to nominate the people and places that add a little something extra to the city.

They have been voting for their favourite people and businesses in their thousands to reward those who go that extra mile.
