Campaign for more facilities in Belmayne
BELMAYNE parents have come together to lobby Dublin City Council (DCC) for more community facilities in the area.
Currently the nearest open green space is a 30-minute walk away and the nearest community centre almost a 40-minute walk, local mum Michelle McGoldrick told the Herald.
This summer the parents hosted a summer project in the Clongriffin Community Hub, which was facilitated by the local authority.
However, they now hope to build on their success and secure a community centre of their own.
Local Labour councillor Alison Gilliland has been working with the group to establish a centre and more play space.
"All developments should have open space for free play," she said.
A Council spokeswoman said that there are numerous facilities nearby and DCC are happy to work with residents to help them get the most out of these.
